Gus Johnson breaking down the top 5 plays from last night’s game.
IOWA CITY, Iowa — It wasn’t senior night, but Iowa senior Matt Gatens played like it was, scoring a career high 30 points on shooting 7 of 10 behind the arc in the Hawkeyes 78-66 upset win over the #20 Indiana Hoosiers.
“Gatens, who was the most determined player on the floor in my opinion the whole day anyway, just took it to another level,” Indiana coach Tom Crean said. “When he hit those shots, we just couldn’t overcome it.”
The Iowa Hawkeyes are now 14-13 overall, 6-8 in Big Ten play, and host the Wisconsin Badgers this Thursday at Carver-Hawkeye Arena. The Indiana Hoosiers drop to 20-7 overall, 8-7 in Big Ten play, and host North Carolina Central Wednesday at Assembly Hall. Tom Crean has now only won three games on the road in Big Ten play in the last four years.
