LAWRENCE, KS — Some Kansas fans are calling this the greatest comeback in Allen Fieldhouse’s history, and some Missouri fans are still in disbelief. The #4 Kansas Jayhawks were down as much as 19 points in the second half to the #3 Missouri Tigers, but found a way in overtime to over come the deficit and win, 87-86. Thomas Robinson took Kansas on his back ending with 28 points, 12 rebounds, and the one block heard round the world. This rivalry between Kansas (24-5, 14-2) and Missouri (25-4, 12-4) has been something special over the last 100 years.
“It’s a great rivalry. It’s two schools that fiercely don’t like each other, hooking up and going after it,” Self said. “We saw the best they had to offer, they saw the best we had to offer, and it’s sad to see it end, but playing once a year with nothing in it doesn’t mean as much.”
After this win, it gave Kansas at least a share of the Big 12 regular season title. This would make it eight conference regular season championships in a row for Kansas. The Jayhawks will play tonight against Oklahoma State on the road.
