ARCH MADNESS: Bulldogs Take Bite Out of Braves 65-49
St. Louis, Mo – The Drake Bulldogs and Bradley Braves found themselves tangled up in a well-played defensive, athletic game Thursday night at the Scottrade Center during the opening round of the Missouri Valley Tournament. Once the dust settled and a victor was declared, it was the Bulldogs that came out on top 65-49
Rayvonte Rice was the rock of the Bulldogs as they played into the 10 o’clock hour. He threw up 18 points on the board while going 7-13 from the field.
Ben Simons helped out with an additional 16 points of his own and led the Bulldogs with 3 assist.
Drake forced 13 turnovers on the Braves, turning those into 16 points on the evening. It’s that type of defense that will help the Bulldogs out tomorrow night as they on Creighton during the next round of the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament.
Bradley’s Walt Lemon Jr. and Dyricus Simms-Edwards were easily the two most effective players on the court Thursday for the Braves. Lemon had 14 points and 7 rebounds while Simms-Edwards had 16 points and 7 boards of his own.
Drake shot 45% from the field while holding Bradley to a lowly 34%.
Bradley falls to 7-25 on the season while Drake advances to 17-14.
