NCAA Tournament First Round Preview: Florida State vs. St. Bonaventure

By Adam McGill

Game: (3) Florida State – (14) St. Bonaventure 3/16 2:25 PM ET

Game Analysis:  The “Game of Destiny” features two teams that have had amazing trips to the tournament already.  On there way to the school’s first ACC Title, Florida State pulled off a huge 85-82 upset over Duke in the ACC semi-finals and ultimately cost the Blue Devils’ a number one seed in the NCAA tourney.  St. Bonaventure is a small private school outside of Buffalo, NY that breezed through the Atlantic 10 this year.  St. Bonnies entered the conference tournament as the four seed, but still managed to get their sixth ticket to the dance in their school history.

Matchup to Watch: F Bernard James, Florida State vs. F Andrew Nicholson, St. Bonaventure  – James had the worst performance of his season in their semi-final loss to North Carolina, as he only managed 9 points and 6 rebounds.  However, he did still block 5 shots in the losing effort, something that will come in handy when guarding the Bonnies’ star.  Nicholson does have a very quick release and an even smoother shot, so there is potential for him to get hot during the game.

Prediction: Florida State 67 – St. Bonaventure 64
