College Basketball Recruiting: Hamilton Hawkins ('13) Talks Interests and Summer Improvement

With the month of July coming to a close, 6-foot-1 guard Hamilton Hawkins is wrapping up his final summer on the AAU circuit.

In preparation of his final season at the high school level, Hawkins has gained interest from a select number of Division I programs.

“I have interest from Jacksonville, Stetson, Boston University, Rider, Bucknell, Charleston Southern, and Furman,” Hawkins said via text.

With interest kicking in for Hawkins, the guard intends to takes some visits this August. “I took a visit to Florida Gulf Coast last fall, but I’m gonna start planning some more in August,” he said.

Hawkins has also had a number of the schools that are expressing a desire in him, attend some of his games over the course of the summer.

As for his final summer, Hawkins feels confident that his play was strong and his improvements were recognizable. “It was a very good last summer of my AAU career,” Hawkins explained. “I felt like I gave it my best every game because I knew it was my last summer of playing. I improved on my decision-making with the ball and being a point guard I had to become more of a floor general!”

Moving forward, Hawkins is now most looking forward to visiting a some of the schools that are on his radar. “I’m most looking forward to checking out Stetson and Jacksonville,” he said.

The 2013 guard currently attends Olympia H.S. (FL), and had run with the OBC Elite program over the summer.
