Kentucky-signee Nerlens Noel, the top-rated prospect in the class of 2012, has finished his academic requirements, according to a report from Sporting News.
In the report, Noel said that he has finished his prerequisite work and will join the Wildcats on campus on Aug. 19. The fall semester at UK begins on Aug. 22.
Not only the cream of incoming freshmen, but also the crown jewel of another, loaded Kentucky class, Noel stands at 6-foot-11 and undoubtedly will have an instant impact for head coach John Calipari.
While many may compare Noel’s ability and talents to that of former Kentucky big man Anthony Davis, Noel will look to carve out his own path, in helping the Wildcats once again threaten for a national championship.
“I’m looking forward to getting down there and working on my game, working on every aspect of my game and getting acquainted with my teammates and coaches,” Noel said.
To meet academic standards, Noel had to return to his hometown in Everett, Massachusetts, completing two courses that he was required to have. Noel, who attended the Tilton School (NH), was originally part of the class of 2013, but made the decision last year to reclassify and head to college for the 2012-13 season.
Noel made his decision on Apr. 11 of this past spring, choosing the Wildcats over Georgetown and Syracuse on national television.
In addition to Noel, Calipari and Kentucky also welcome in Alex Poythress, Archie Goodwin, and Willie Cauley-Stein. Eligible transfer and former North Carolina State guard Ryan Harrow will also be among the new faces on the court this year for UK.
