The Texas Longhorns Men’s Hoops team will be seen an awful lot this coming season. The Longhorns have released their schedule, and it is noted that they will have 11 of their 18 Big 12 games on national TV. The season begins for Rick Barnes and his Longhorns on November 9th, when they host the Fresno State Bulldogs.

Following the game against Fresno State, the Longhorns will take on Coppin
State in the first round of the Maui Invitational on November 12th. Then, Texas will head to beautiful Hawaii and take on Chaminade in the late game on November 19th. Texas will then take on either USC or Illinois on November 20th, and play one more game on November 21st before coming back to campus.

Sam Houston State and Texas-Arlington are two traditional non-conference games for the Longhorns. This will lead them into the Jimmy V Classic, that takes place on December 4th at the Madison Square Garden.
The Longhorns will take on John Thompson III and his Georgetown Hoyas. On Saturday December 8th, the Longhorns will head to Houston and play a neutral court game against traditional foe UCLA.

After a game against Texas State on December 15th, the Longhorns schedule gets tough. Texas will take on North Carolina and Michigan State in back-to-back games. The game against the Tar Heels is at home, while they head to East Lansing on the 22nd of December.  The final non-conference game comes in December 29th when they take on the Rice Owls.

As far as the national TV games during conference play, Texas will play on January 5th against rival Baylor ESPN will feature the Longhorns again on January 21st at Oklahoma, February 4th at West Virginia and February 16th at Kansas. These are all “Big Monday” games. On March 2nd and 4th the Longhorns will play back-to-back national games. ESPNU will carry the January 5th game, along with the game at Iowa State on January 12th. CBS will show the game on January 19th against the Kansas Jayhawks.

The Texas Longhorns are coming off a 20-14 season, in which they finished 6th in the Big 12. Texas won 9 and lost 9 Big 12 games. In the NCAA tournament, the Longhorns were bounced in their first game by the Cincinnati Bearcats.
