Austin Nichols: 2013 Forward Trims List to Six Schools

Austin Nichols is down to six.

On Sunday afternoon, the 6-foot-8 forward trimmed his list of potential suitors down to Memphis, Duke, Virginia, Auburn, Vanderbilt, and Tennessee.

By way of Eads, Tennessee, Nichols is labeled as one of the top prospects within the class of 2013. In fact, Nichols was recently dubbed at No. 10 nationally by ESPN. Rivals pins the power forward at No. 43 for the time being.

With his list down to six, Nichols will now turn his attention to a number of official visits. Auburn, Tennessee, Duke, Virginia, and Vanderbilt will all receive visits from the forward in the coming weeks and months. Just last week, Nichols took an unofficial trip to Memphis, basically meaning the Tennessee-native will look into each of his remaining suitors.

During his recruitment, Nichols had been receiving interest from a number of schools from across the nation. Among them was Florida, yet the Gators did not make the cut, very possibly due to the fact that Billy Donovan landed a commitment from Chris Walker earlier this summer.

It appears that Nichols has still yet to decide if he will choose a school and sign during the early-period in November. If not, the forward will likely wait until the spring to do so.

Nichols currently attends Briarcrest H.S. (TN) and ran with Memphis YOMCA on the AAU summer circuit.
