Florida Gators Basketball: Patric Young Will Have a Breakout Season
The Florida Gators were spurred by their hot three-point shooting last year. However, expect Florida’s post game to be greatly improved this year, thanks to a breakout season from Patric Young.
Young could have easily been a lottery pick in the NBA draft, but he chose to stick around at Florida for his junior year. This will only increase Young’s draft stock and show the college basketball world how good he is.
Young has always been a defensive presence at Florida, but his offensive game is not too shabby. Last season, he averaged 10.2 points per game and 6.4 rebounds per game. Expect his production on offense to increase in the upcoming season, when Young is not the fourth or fifth option on the floor.
Over the last two seasons, Young has gained a great deal of confidence on offense and has become a real threat in this department. Going from 3.4 points per game to 10.2 points per game over the span of the year is proof of that.
Bradley Beal and Erving Walker took a lot of shots for Florida last year, but they both are no longer on the team, which will free up some looks for Young. Kenny Boynton will still be the go-to guy for the Gators, but Young will not be too far behind him.
Look for Patric Young to have a breakout season for the Gators this year.
