Rant Sports NCAAB Season Preview: Battle 4 Atlantis
Early season tournaments continue to emerge and increase from a competition standpoint. Non-conference schedules have gotten tougher and college basketball fans prepare for premier match-ups and upsets even in November.
Let’s take a look at the Battle 4 Atlantis.
Tournament Dates(s): November 22-24, 2012.
Tournament Location(s): Atlantis, Paradise Island, Bahamas.
Tournament Summary: The Battle 4 Atlantis consists of many talented teams who will be expected to play in March. The Louisville Cardinals are the favorites, while the Memphis Tigers, Missouri Tigers, and Duke Blue Devils will also be in the mix. Finally, don’t sleep on the VCU Rams, who cruised through their European trip reportedly beating teams by 50 points each game or the Stanford Cardinal. Both teams ended their last season on a tear, and look to build off that momentum heading into the 2012 season. With the type of programs that this tournament has playing in it, the Battle 4 Atlantis should be one of the better preseason tournaments in college basketball.
Player to Watch: Peyton Siva, Louisville Cardinals: Siva is the unquestioned leader of the national title contender Cardinals. With that much pressure on his shoulders, he must deliver. As a point guard, he is the leader of the offense, but he is also the best on his team at scoring. If Louisville is serious about returning to the Final Four, Siva will put on a show in the Battle 4 Atlantis and show us why.
