By way of Crespi Carmelite H.S. (CA), London Perrantes has rapidly become one of the top point guards in the class of 2013.
Over the Labor Day Weekend, Perrantes announced his verbal commitment to head coach Tony Bennett and the Virginia Cavaliers.
Perrantes tweeted the news late Monday night: [blackbirdpie url="https://twitter.com/CityOfLondon_32/status/242774607155826689"]
At 6-foot-1, Perrantes continued to impress on the AAU circuit, running with Double Pump Elite. Perrantes had been receiving heavy interest from a number of west coast schools during his recruitment, but his decision to head to Virginia gives the Cavaliers a big boost in terms of looking ahead to the 2013-14 season.
Perrantes is known for high IQ and play making abilities at the point guard position, two of many qualities that made him so highly-regarded by many.
Perrantes had a number of visits set up for the month of September, including trips to Washington State, Arizona State, and Illinois, but his verbal pledge likely means his focus now turns to his senior season at the high school level.
Just minutes after Perrantes tweeted his news, 2013 guard Jaron Hopkins also announced his decision, verbally pledging to Colorado and head coach Tad Boyle. The back-to-back decisions on Monday evening took two of the top west coast guards off the boards as the month of September rolls into its first full week.
Perrantes continues to be labeled as a pass-first point guard, another quality that should help that California-native excel at Virginia. However, his continued improvement on the offensive end also gives him the ability to score in a variety of ways.
Parrents is currently ranked at No. 83 overall by ESPN.
