The Delaware Blue Hens have announced their Non-Conference schedule for this upcoming 2012-2013 men’s basketball season.
Their schedule consists of a few challenging games, but they will also be able to compete in many of their contests.
First, the Blue Hens will travel to Philadelphia to take on La Salle of the Atlantic 10. Then, Delaware will travel to Charlottesville, Va. to participate in the NIT Season Tip-Off early season tournament. The Blue Hens will be one of 16 contestants in the annual tourney and will face great competition there.
Once the winter truly kicks in, the Blue Hens will start to face some very tough challenges. From Nov. 25 to Dec. 1, head coach Monté Ross’s squad will play three straight road games across the East coast.
Delaware will take on the always feisty and talented squad from Temple in Philly in a classic A 10 vs. Colonial Athletic Association battle. Next, the Blue Hens will travel to Lafayette from the Patriot League. Then, the team will face its biggest challenge of the season against Duke in the Cameron Indoor Stadium.
If Delaware can relatively survive their tough stretch of road games, they should find themselves sitting pretty during their final few non-conference games following their road trip.
The Blue Hens should be a serious contender in the CAA this season, and they should be thinking NCAA Tournament or bust. In order to secure a definite invitation to the Big Dance, Delaware should look to take advantage of its winnable conference schedule in order to get on the Selection Committee’s radar.
