Michigan Coach John Beilein will be visiting 2014 recruit Devin Booker according to Sam Webb of WTKA. Booker, a guard from Moss Point, Mississippi is a four-star recruit and is ranked 27th nationally. Devin Booker is 6-3 and can play either guard spot.
Michigan is not the only school to be giving Booker recruiting attention. He has gotten offers from Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Missouri and Mississippi as well as Michigan.
Michigan’s rival Michigan Stateis also on the high school junior’s radar. In an interview with umhoops.com Booker stated ““I haven’t [visited yet]. I was going to take it, but Izzo had to go somewhere, so we rescheduled it sometime soon. I’m not sure exactly when though.”
Michigan seems to have a lot of serious competition for the elite guard. Their biggest obstacle could be Missouri, who like Michigan has a large mutual interest with Booker. In the same interview with umhoops.com Booker said “Missouri is a top school, I have to say, because they’ve been there since the beginning, like Michigan also. I’ve been there a few times, I like the campus and have a good feel for the coaches.”
However, Beilein has showed a great ability at scoring big recruits. His 2012 class has three top 100 players in Mitch McGary, Nik Stauskas and Glenn Robinson III. Their 2013 class is also looking good. It includes two top 50 recruits in Zakarie Irvin and Derrick Walton as well as a top 150 forward in Mark Donnal.
Michigan basketball is picking up steam with its terrific recruiting and Booker would be the first splash of the 2014 class.
