Dayton Flyers Announce 2012-13 Men’s Basketball Schedule
Last week, the Dayton Flyers announced their men’s basketball schedule for the upcoming season. The Flyers are looking to get back on track as last season they finished with a record of 20-13 and then getting bounced in the first of the NIT by the Iowa Hawkeyes.
Dayton opens the regular season on November 10th at UD Arena versus Arkansas State (Sun Belt). This game should be a win for the Flyers as the Red Wolves had an overall record of 14-20. Then Dayton, will take their talents to the Charleston Classic from November 15th-18th. This tournament will feature Auburn, Baylor, Boston College, Charleston (Southern), Colorado, Murray State (Ohio Valley), and St. John’s. Dayton’s first opponent will be Colorado on November 15th.
From there, the Flyers will finish off the month of November with two straight home games versus Manhattan (MAAC) and Weber State (Big Sky). To start off the month of December, the Flyers will travel down to Tuscaloosa, Alabama to take on Alabama on the 5th. The Crimson Tide finished last season with a 21-12 record and was an eighth seed in the NCAA Tournament.
After playing Alabama, Dayton will have four straight home games against Miami, Florida Atlantic (Sun Belt), Illinois State, and Murray State. Finally, on December 30th, Dayton will travel out west to take on the USC Trojans, who are looking to rebound after having a struggling season with a 6-26 overall record.
If the Flyers can make it through a very good non-conference schedule and then play .500 or better in conference play, you might just see them making a case for the NCAA Tournament.
