The Kansas State Wildcats are excited about being selected to host a portion of the Pre-Season NIT this coming season. The Wildcats will host Alabama-Huntsville, Lamar and North Texas on November 12th and 13th.

The Wildcats are seeded third in the event, and will take on Lamar, who won the Southland Conference a season ago. The winner will take on the winner of the Alabama-Huntsville and North Texas game. Alabama-Huntsville is a D2 program, who advanced to the Elite 8. The winner of the Manhattan portion of the tournament will move on to New York City for the semifinals and finals.

Along with Kansas State; Michigan, Pittsburgh and Virginia are also hosting two games on their campus. Those three schools are also the remaining top seeds in the tournament. The semi-finals take place November 21st at Madison Square Garden.

Lamar, the first opponent for Kansas State is led by Pat Knight. The Cardinals won 23 games a season ago. Lamar played in the NCAA First Four against Vermont; falling 71-59 in Dayton. This is the third time these two schools have met.

Bruce Weber returns 12 lettermen from last year’s Kansas State Wildcats squad. Weber, who was fired from the University of Illinois was then promptly hired to replace Frank Martin in Manhattan.

Rodney McGruder is the leader of the Wildcats offense this season. Along with McGruder, the Wildcats see Will Spradling and Angel Rodriguez returning. Kansas State has three of their top scorers remaining. The Wildcats will certainly be a team to look-out for out of the Big 12 this season.
