Does Money Mean Success in the Big 12?

Here is a list of schools currently participating in the Big 12 and the amount of money they spend for Men’s Basketball and how much is allocated for recruiting. As you can see the Kansas Jayhawks are the 11th biggest spender for recruiting athletes to their basketball squad.

Right behind them we find Texas coming in 12th in recruiting expenses with the Red Raiders of Texas Tech hitting 17th. Several teams find themselves in the 30’s and 40’s but lagging way behind is Texas Christian and Oklahoma State in the 70’s.

Kansas, Texas and Oklahoma spend about 40-45% more total in basketball expenditures than the rest of the conference. Say what you want about these numbers but the teams that are good on a consistent basis are the ones that spend the most money.
