Kent Bazemore isn’t the only former Monarch having a successful transition from college to the pros.

Here’s a quick update on what former Old Dominion forwards Frank Hassell (’11) and Keyon Carter(’11) have been doing since their departure from school.

Hassell left ODU 10th all-time in rebounding (909) and 28th in scoring (1282) to go along with a CAA Tournament MVP award.  Since his graduation last year, he has had a brief stint with the San Antonio Spurs, in which they kept him on the roster until the opening day of the season.  Then, he played in the NBA Developmental League for the Canton Charge.  Hassell averaged 10.6 points per game  shooting nearly 55 percent from the field.  He is currently signed with the Hapeoi Holon Tigers in Holon, Israel and is getting ready for what is expected to be an outstanding season for the 6-8, 235-pound forward.

Carter went to play overseas after he came back from a Mission Trip to West Africa.  He was named Rookie of the Year in the Republic of Georgia’s Super League.  Carter averaged 23.4 points per game and 13.9 rebounds for his team, Dinamo Tbillsi.   He led the league in rebounding, was second in scoring and finished 10th in steals at 1.7 per game.  His performance was good enough to be selected second team All-League.  Carter now looks forward to more international success with Koa Dramas in Greece this season.
