Well this was some unsuspecting news for college basketball fans across the country but exciting news for fans of the Atlantic 10Today, the conference announced that they have reached a media and television rights agreement with NBC Sports, CBS Sports, and ESPN. This will be an eight year deal and will start in the 2013-14 season.

Atlantic 10 commissioner Bernadette V. McGlade said in a release that “Partnering with ESPN, CBS Sports Network and NBC Sports Network for the next eight years is truly a historic moment for the A-10 and its member institutions.”  I think this is a good move for the Atlantic 10 as this can give them so much exposure throughout the country.

This eight year deal entails 146 men’s basketball exposures which include 64 men’s basketball games to be broadcast on 14 ESPN affiliated stations, 25 on the CBS Sports Network, and finally 25 on the NBC Sports Network. These stations will also have the rights to the conference tournament. The breakdown goes like this, the NBC Sports Network will broadcast the Atlantic 10 tournament quarterfinals, CBS will broadcast the semifinals, and finally ESPN will broadcast the championship game.

Another key part of this huge deal is that the NBC Sports Network will broadcast additional programming throughout their regional outlets.

This deal will run through the 2021-22 season and now gives the Atlantic 10 a place to call home.
