John Calipari, Kentucky Await Harrison Twins’ Announcement
Head coach John Calipari and all of Kentucky’s Big Blue Nation are hoping to hear some good news from a pair of Class of 2013 recruits later in the week. Twins Andrew and Aaron Harrison will announce their college decision at 5 p.m. EDT Thursday on ESPNU’s “Recruiting Nation” program. The Five-Star twin guards have narrowed their teams to the Kentucky Wildcats and Maryland Terrapins.
Fresh off guiding Kentucky to its eighth national title and notching another top recruiting class, Calipari was on the go throughout the offseason, hitting the recruiting trail harder than ever.
Consensus top-five national prospects in the Class of 2013, the Harrison’s shape up as phenomenal two-in-one deal. The tandem had previously said they’d announce a college choice on Oct. 29 but opted to move the announcement up sooner, prior to either school’s Midnight Madness event.
The Harrison’s hail from Houston. Andrew is the top-rated point guard in the country. Aaron ranks as the top-rated shooting guard in the nation. Both players check in at around 6-5, 210 pounds.
The Harrison’s led Travis High School to a 33-3 record and an appearance in a Texas state championship game last season.
Maryland head coach Mark Turgeon, who previously coached at Texas A&M, boasts a long history with the Harrison’s dating back to his days of coaching in the Lone Star State.
Then there’s Calipari’s Kentucky program, which is sending five or more players to the NBA via the draft each and every year.
Two top-five players in a package deal? The school that lands the Harrison’s, whether it is Kentucky or Maryland, could likely wrap up the top recruiting class early in the 2012-13 school year.
