Rant Sports NCAAB Conference Preview: Atlantic Sun

Another year of college basketball is quickly approaching and in preparation, Rant Sports College Basketball Network Manager Paul Seaver will be breaking down and predicting the outcomes of each conference across the country.

Today, we look at the Atlantic Sun Conference:

Belmont‘s reign in the Atlantic Sun has come to an end and that’s only because the university made the decision to head to the Ohio Valley Conference. The Bruins have qualified for the NCAA Tournament five times in the past seven seasons, but with their departure, the doors are opening for others to emerge atop this conference.

Mercer, Florida Gulf Coast, and USC-Upstate all return talented rosters that can compete atop the league standings. Mercer returns four starters from a team that won 27 games a season ago, so it’s tough to pinpoint anyone other than the Bears as the early favorite. However, Florida Gulf Coast and USC-Upstate each have the potential to crash the league’s tournament in 2013 and dance for the first time in school history.

1. Mercer

2. USC-Upstate

3. Florida Gulf Coast
