Around this time last season, the city of Memphis was full of excitement and energy with the announcement of Memphis Madness and the rapper Rick Ross performing. Well Rick Ross never made it to Memphis due to health issues and the Tiger’s 2011-2012 season ended with a disappointing lost to St. Louis.
All of that is in the past. Memphis Tigers is one season away from the Big East conference. Memphis coach Josh Pastner has landed three ESPN 100 commitments in the class of 2013 with the No. 27 overall prospect, small forward Kuran Iverson (Waynesboro, Va./Fishburne Military School), the No. 29 overall prospect, small forward Nick King (Memphis, Tenn./Memphis East) and the No. 91 overall prospect, point guard Rashawn Powell (Orlando, Fla./Dr. Phillips). The 2013 commitments also include No. 36 shooting guard Markel Crawford (Memphis, Tenn./Melrose).
