After making a run to the Sweet 16 last year, having a great recruiting class and returning its two best players in C.J. Leslie and Lorenzo Brown, North Carolina State is definitely the team to beat in the ACC. However, the conference does still have Duke and North Carolina in it.
So, although the Wolfpack will be the favorites, that does not mean that they will win the ACC this season.
Duke will be led by Mason Plumlee, Seth Curry and Ryan Kelly all season long. Not to mention, the Blue Devils have two great freshman in Rasheed Sulaimon and Amile Jefferson. Duke really does not have a flaw in their lineup and could easily win the conference once again.
As for North Carolina, they may have lost four of its starters from last year’s team, but it will still have plenty of talent. James Michael McAdoo should be the leader of this team, but the Tar Heels have so much talent. Dexter Strickland and Leslie McDonald will both return from injuries. Not to mention, North Carolina had a pretty good recruiting class.
On paper, North Carolina State looks like the team to beat, but you can never count out North Carolina or Duke, since they have literally owned the ACC for so many years.
Whether the case, North Carolina State will enter the season with a top-10 team and it will definitely challenge for an ACC title.
