Ryan Anderson lit up the scoreboard last night as the Boston College Eagles defeated Florida International in Chestnut Hill by a final score of 84-70. Anderson finished the game with 29 points, 17 rebounds, and 2 steals. The 6’8”, 220 lb. sophomore forward looks a bit quicker on his feet this year. At his size, and with his feel for scoring from inside 20 feet, Anderson’s stock should rise all year.

Florida International made a comeback after trailing by 16 at halftime, and tied the game when Malik Smith hit a 3-pointer with 8:46 left in the second half. Anderson had 7 points and 6 rebounds in the final 10 minutes with the game on the line, showcasing his competitive nature and confidence. The Eagles roster has taken a slight hit from the recent news of sophomore point guard, Jordan Daniels, transferring. Anderson will have even more of the offensive production resting on his shoulders as the teams best scorer.

Boston College’s next game is at home against No. 16 Baylor this Thursday. Anderson will be tested on both ends of the court being matched up against the super athletic junior forward Cory Jefferson. Jefferson is a great defender and shot blocker, Anderson will have to be on his game to showcase his offensive abilities. Anderson outweighs Jefferson and should be able to hold his own on the boards. Boston College does not have much chance of winning against the Bears on Nov. 15, but if Anderson continues in star form, the Eagles could make this game closer than advertised.
