All Five Commitments Sign with Memphis Tigers Basketball

There will be no waiting on National Letters of Intent paperwork for the Memphis Tigers basketball program. All five prospects have provided their documentation to Memphis.

Markel Crawford, Kuran Iverson and RaShawn “Pookie” Powell signed national letters of intent Wednesday to attend the University of Memphis beginning in the fall of 2013.

Nick King and Austin Nichols both signed national letters of intent today to attend the University of Memphis beginning in the fall of 2013.

The five-man class is now ranked No. 3 nationally by ESPN after Kansas jumped into the No. 2 spot.

Crawford, who Rivals.com rates the No. 53 overall prospect in the class of 2013, hopes to have his knee healthy by January. He is a 6-5 combo guard still recovering from knee surgery to repair a torn right ACL he injured on the AAU circuit last July. He averaged 15.2 points and shot 52.5 percent as a junior last season for Melrose High School (TN).

Iverson, a 6-9 forward averaged 17.6 points, 9.2 rebounds, 3.4 blocks, 1.9 assists and 1.7 steals last year for Fishburne Military School (Va.). He is rated nationally by Rivals.com (No. 27), ESPN.com (No. 29), MaxPreps.com (No. 32) and Scout.com (No. 35).

Powell, a 6-1 point guard averaged 19.2 points, 6.7 assists, 4.7 rebounds and 2.7 steals as a junior for Dr. Phillips (FL). He is rated nationally by Scout.com (No. 87) and ESPN.com (No. 93).

King, a 6’7 forward from Memphis (TN), averaged 21 points and nearly 10 rebounds as a junior last season to lead East to the Class AAA state title. He is rated nationally by Scout.com (No. 21), ESPN.com (No. 31), Rivals.com (No. 40) and MaxPreps.com (No. 47).

Nichols, a 6’8 forward from Collierville (TN), averaged 18.6 points, 9.6 rebounds and 3.6 blocked shots for Briarcrest Christian. He is rated nationally by ESPN.com (No. 13), Rivals.com (No. 20), MaxPreps.com (No. 22) and Scout.com (No. 50).
