Fordham Rams: Forward Chris Gaston to Miss a Month due to a Knee Injury
The Fordham Rams have already loss their first three games of the season and now they will be without the likes of senior forward Chris Gaston for a month due to pain and swelling in one of his knees.
The reason why Gaston will be out for a month or so is that he will be undergoing an arthroscopic procedure to lessen the pain in his knee. Last season, Gaston was the Rams number one option on the court. He would go on to average 17.1 points and 9.9 rebounds per game. Before, this season had started; Chris Gaston was picked as a preseason All-Atlantic 10 selection.
Without Gaston, the Rams will now have to depend on freshman Ryan Rhoomes, Travion Leonard, and sophomore Luke Zivkovic. In Fordham’s first three games this season, Rhoomes and Leonard combined for 7.7 points and 6.7 rebounds per game, while Zivkovic is only averaging eight minutes per game so far.
Look for leading scorers Branden Frazier and Bryan Smith to take on a bigger load as the Rams will need it.
An interesting fact about the Rams is that in all three games this season; they have loss by double figures. But this Monday and Tuesday coming up, they will be looking for their first wins of the season either against Penn (Ivy) or Fairfield (MAAC) in Preseason NIT consolation pod action hosted by Lehigh University (Patriot).
