Looking Ahead to Tar Heels vs. Hoosiers

Rob Kinnan-US PRESSWIRE

Two of the most storied programs in all of college basketball will matchup this week when the Indiana Hoosiers take on the North Carolina Tar Heels. Indiana will come in as the clear favorite to win this game, but do the Tar Heels have any chance?

North Carolina has already lost one game this season, but it came against a very pesky Butler team. Sure, the Tar Heels have a chance, but players other than James Michael McAdoo have to come up big in this contest. McAdoo is leading the team with 16.8 points per game and 8.8 rebounds per game.

Only two other Tar Heels are averaging 10 or more points per game, which will not cut it against Indiana. North Carolina rotates a number of players, so it will keep the Hoosier defense guessing though.

However, Cody Zeller and the rest of Indiana will be a very tough test on both sides of the court. Zeller is leading the team with 15.2 points per game, but any player on this team is capable of going off. Indiana is averaging 86.2 points per game, which is good enough for seventh in the nation. UNC isn’t too far behind, putting up 85.3 points per game.

This matchup will be the toughest game yet for both teams. However, the edge has to go to the Bloomington Boys, since it will be played at Assembly Hall. Indiana just has way too much talent. A great player at every position and a very rowdy crowd will be a lot for this North Carolina team to handle. Sure, North Carolina will have a chance in this game, but it will have to have its best performance of the year if it plans on pulling off the upset.
