Khalif Wyatt Helps Keep Temple Owls Undefeated
Saturday afternoon’s game versus Wagner University (Northeast) was the Khalif Wyatt show and we were all invited. The senior guard put on show as he scored 26 points in 34 minutes as the Temple Owls stayed undefeated and defeated Wagner 70-62.
Wyatt is this team’s leader in a sense and their elder statesmen without the likes of Ramone Moore and Juan Fernandez who are not on the team anymore, this is his show to run.
So far this season he has done a pretty well. Wyatt is averaging 13.0 points and 5.5 assists per game this season but as you get to know Wyatt, you should also get ready to hear from senior guard/forward Scootie Randall who is leading this Owls team in scoring with 17.3 points per game. Randall has not played basketball in two years due to injuries, but now he is finally coming into his own as a player.
We did not see it so much versus Wagner yesterday afternoon as he only had 10 points and 9 rebounds, but that is still making an impact. The Owls will have to lean on the combination of Wyatt and Randall to make it through the rest of non-conference play and Atlantic 10 Conference play which will be tough as well.
You can say this month will tell a lot about the Owls, to see how much they have grown and matured, and also to see if they are ready for the big lights of prime time as we all remember last season when they upset Duke at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, PA.
