There is one team during the early part of the college basketball season that is really sticking out for me and that’s the Indiana Hoosiers. The Hoosiers are sitting at No. 1 in the country in all the major polls behind their center, Cody Zeller. What is more key to me about this team is how coach Tom Crean has turned things around and got the Indiana program back to the way that everyone remembers it being.
Crean has coached in other places with great success as well and has brought that winning now to Indiana. Would it surprise anyone if the Hoosiers were able to win the Big Ten Conference without any issues whatsoever? I wouldn’t be shocked at all if that happened. The fans are filling Assembly Hall with excitement yet again and now have a team that has very real national championship hopes. Zeller is going to end up being a solid NBA prospect and could easily end up being a lottery pick.
If Crean can keep this team from getting too high in the clouds, I think that we will be seeing Indiana in the Final Four during late March. I really think that highly of this team and the struggle that is Big Ten basketball will just toughen the Hoosiers up even more. This is one of those special years for the fans in Bloomington and they can thank Crean for coming and making the commitment of making Indiana a place where recruits want to go again and thrive.
