The Florida Gators have started the season off with a 7-0 record after dominating Florida State 72-47 tonight.

The No. 6 ranked Gators have had some big wins this season including Wisconsin, Central Florida, Marquette and now Florida State.  This begs the question, should the Gators be ranked higher than No. 6?

Florida State head coach, Leonard Hamilton surely thinks so after complimenting Florida’s efforts after the game.  Hamilton had no problem acknowledging that this Gator team was one of the best he has seen in the entirety of his coaching career.

Florida’s depth is one of their greatest strengths, which showed in the very balanced scoring attack against the Seminoles.

Kenny Boynton and Mike Rosario lead the way with 14 points, Michael Frazier scored 12 points and Patric Young added 10 points.  But scoring isn’t the only area the depth of this team shines; Scottie Wilbekin had five assists and five steals tonight.

The Gators have had so much success because they do not revolve around one or two players, but instead have been able to rely on a solid unit to contribute each and every night.  This not only shows that the players have unselfishly put winning ahead of individual stats but it makes them incredibly hard to defend.

Another factor that makes Florida one of the best teams in the nation is their defense.  They have held five opponents to 50 points or below this season, something that has become very challenging in the fast paced, run and gun style of basketball often played today.

The consistency the Gators have shown both offensively and defensively is what makes them one of the best teams in the nation right now.  There is no doubt they will continue to make a push towards the top of the rankings.
