The No. 12 Missouri Tigers are 8-1 on the season, with their only loss coming to the No. 2 Louisville Cardinals, at the time. The Tigers have had a relatively easy schedule in the 2012-13 college basketball schedule, but things are about to get a lot tougher for them.
Missouri will have one more easy matchup left before it takes on the No. 10 Illinois Fighting Illini and UCLA Bruins in back-to-back games. The Tigers will get Illinios at home, but they will have to travel to California to take on the Bruins.
The Tigers best win of the season came against the VCU Rams. VCU is a great team and all, but it is not the Bruins or the Fighting Illini.
Illinois has gotten off to a great start, with an undefeated record of 11-0. The Fighting Illini have beaten both the Butler Bulldogs and No. 10 Gonzaga Bulldogs (at the time), so this team has already been tested. As for UCLA, it has gotten off to a very disappointing start, losing three games on the year already. The Bruins entered the season with very high expectations, but they have been underachieving so far.
However, UCLA still does have some very talented players on its team and you would think that this the Bruins would find their grove at some point in the season.
Missorui has gotten off to a pretty good start, other than getting blown out by Lousiville and losing one of its best players in Michael Dixon. Phil Pressey is living up to the hype, other than a few inconsistency problems, but he is still averaging 13 points per game and 5.8 assists per game. However, senior Laurence Bowers is leading the team with 16.9 points per game. Both of these players are going to have to come up big if Missouri plans on beating UCLA and Illinois.
Whether the case, we are about to find out if this Tigers team will be as good as it was last year.
