After the new rankings come out for the week in college basketball, the Missouri Tigers will most likely be the highest ranked team in the SEC. Not to mention, this team just got done beating an undefeated Illinois Fighting Illini team. So, are the Tigers the best team in the SEC?

Well, Missouri only has one loss on the year, which came against the No. 2 Louisville Cardinals at the time, the Kentucky Wildcats are not what we thought they would be and the Florida Gators have lost their last two out of three games. So, for the time being the Tigers have to be the No. 1 team in the conference.

Illinois was no slouch. The Fighting Illini were 12-0 coming into yesterday’s matchup against Missouri. Not to mention, Illinois has beaten the Butler Bulldogs and Gonzaga Bulldogs on the season.

Missouri’s best win of the year came yesterday against Illinois, but it also beat a very good VCU Rams team earlier in the season.

Phil Pressey is doing a great job this season, with 12.3 points per game and 6.3 assists per game, but it is Laurence Bowers who is leading the team with 16.9 points per game. Not to mention, Oregon transfer Jabari Brown is finally eligible and he is averaging 15 points per game in his first two games with the Tigers. Brown really played big against Illinois, scoring 18 points and grabbing seven rebounds.

Missouri will take on UCLA next and with a victory, the Tigers will enter SEC play as the best team in the conference.
