Florida Gators Drop Second Game of the Season

The Florida Gators looked like one of the best teams in all of college basketball in their first seven games of the season, winning on average by 25 points per game, but now they have dropped two out of their last three games.

It’s not like the Gators lost games against the Arizona Wildcats and Kansas State Wildcats by a large margin, but losses are losses.

Florida was beating Arizona the entire game, until they let a six-point lead slip away from it in the final minute of the game. As for the Kansas State game, the Wildcats just looked better than the Gators. Every time Florida got the game close, the Wildcats would just pull ahead. Of course Patric Young would go off against Kansas State, with 19 points and 10 rebounds, while Mike Rosario (Florida’s leading scorer) could only manage five points in the contest.

Kenny Boynton played a little better than he has been in the past few games, with 11 points, but he still only managed to shoot 36 percent from the field and 1-5 from deep range. Once again, the Gators could have used their star player to really step up against good competition, but he didn’t.

Give Arizona and Kansas State all of the credit in the world, but Florida’s bench has been pretty bad in these two losses. Florida is known this season for its well-rounded play by both the starters and the bench players. However, the Gators’ bench could only manage 14 points against Arizona and seven points against Kansas State.

Florida can obviously rebound from these two losses, but conference play is just weeks away and Florida no longer looks like one of the best teams in the country.
