Seth Curry used a season high scoring performance to once again display the fire power his Duke Blue Devils possess.

Curry’s 31 points in a 90-77 win over the Santa Clara Broncos, were his highest ever in his Blue Devils career and the most since his 35 points on Jan. 17, 2009 when he was playing for the Liberty Flames.

Santa Clara put up a fight in the first half keeping it close as Duke entered the break with a 38-36 lead. The Broncos were carried by Kevin Foster’s 18 points in the half while Curry was doing his part to contribute with 13 points. Foster would finish with 29 points but it was Curry, who would win the scoring duel and the game.

The senior’s perimeter scoring continues to be on fire going 4 for 7 from three point range. It’s the third time in four games Curry has shot 50% or better from downtown. He finished the game going 12 for 18 from the floor and 3 for 4 from the charity stripe.

Duke has one game remaining before they begin their ACC schedule, playing against Curry’s older brother’s Davidson Wildcats. Last year against Davidson, the guard finished with 17 points going 6 for 11 from the field.

His performance against the Broncos is a friendly reminder to future conference opponents that life isn’t going to be easy trying to contain not only himself, but also Mason Plumlee. Plumlee finished with 22 points, 15 rebounds and five assists to record his eighth double-double of the season. The post-presence from Plumlee along with the perimeter production by Curry,  has been a lethal combination for the Blue Devils. The two Duke seniors are top five scorers in the conference.

The ACC was already well aware they had their hands full trying to contain the 12-0 Blue Devils. Thanks to Curry, the competition was reminded just how difficult the task is going to be.
