Maryland is Flying Under the Radar Heading into Conference Play
Don’t look now, but Maryland has won 11 straight games after losing their season opener by 3 points to the defending national champions. Maryland is 11-1 and will have one more non-conference game before they kick off ACC play.
The Terrapins may not have beat any top of the line teams so far, but wins over George Mason and Northwestern aren’t to bad. Just because they haven’t beaten a ranked team, doesn’t mean they don’t know how to win.
Behind center, Alex Len and good guard play, the Terps may be able to surprise some ACC foes.
Len scores just under 14 points a game to go along with 8.3 rebounds and 2.3 blocks. He stands at 7 feet tall and that isn’t the easiest frame to shoot a basketball over. He makes it extremely difficult to score in the paint and every good team needs one of those players.
Nick Faust and Dez Wells pick up the other bulk of the Terrapins scoring. Both players average double figures and can really score the basketball while also dishing it out to open teammates as well.
At 11-1, not many people are talking about Maryland being good. With 11 wins, it shows they know how to win basketball teams and that they have the talent to surprise some teams in the ACC.
The Terrapins will be a team that their opponents can not overlook or they will win. With Len, Wells, and Faust, Maryland can compete in any game and if a team overlooks them, they can take advantage of the opportunity.
Maryland will surprise some ACC teams and fans this season. You better watch out for the Terps.
