Can't Overlook the Boston College Eagles If Ryan Anderson Is On the Floor

The Boston College Eagles lost 78-73 to the North Carolina State Wolfpack, however their sophomore showed why the Eagles can’t be overlooked in the future.

Ryan Anderson recorded his fourth double-double of the season and led all scorers to finish with 22 points and 13 rebounds.

The 6-foot-8 forward scored in double-figures for the fifth straight game after entering the contest the conference’s fifth leading scorer. He also sits third in conference for rebounding with his season averages of 16.2 points and 9.7 rebounds.

Anderson stormed out of the gates early in the season with back-to-back impressive performances including a near upset over the Baylor Bears. His scoring and rebounding has been the biggest bright spot for a Boston College team that saw its five-game win streak snapped after the Wolfpack defeat.

The knock of the sophomore was he hadn’t put up his impressive numbers against tough competition. Now that he finished a double-double going against a strong frontcourt featuring Richard Howell, C.J. Leslie and T.J. Warren, Anderson has proven he can record impressive numbers regardless of the opponent.

The forward’s near double-double average is not a result of weak competition and any future conference opponent that overlooks him could be in for an upset. Conference competition won’t get much harder than being matched up against North Carolina State’s powerful frontcourt and if Anderson can help keep that contest close, ACC consider yourself warned.

Anderson is averaging career highs across the board and if he’s on the court producing, chances are the Eagles are hanging around in the game.

Boston College doesn’t have the depth to be a major factor in the ACC, but they do have one player that is capable of pulling off an upset all on his own.
