C.J. McCollum is one of the best scoring guards in all of basketball. However, the Lehigh Mountain Hawks are going to be without him for two months after he ended up breaking his foot on Saturday.

He currently leads the nation in scoring, so this loss is huge.  He is what powers the team and he makes them a tough out in any tournament.  However, it will be much tougher for this team to pull off a big upset like we saw last year.  Without McCollum, there really isn’t a guy who can step up and take on that scoring load.

If you haven’t watched a game of McCollum, you need to go back and find a replay.  Watching him work with the basketball is a real treat.  Any basketball fan can appreciate it.  The worst part about this injury is that comes to his foot.  Foot injuries are not exactly the easiest thing in the world to come back from.  They can end up having lingering effects past the initial recovery time.

If Lehigh can still make the tournament, they should get McCollum back for it.  That could turn them into a very dangerous low seed.  There are not many teams that want to deal with guarding a guy like him for 40 minutes.  However, making the tournament now would be considered a success.

This is a tough blow for college basketball fans.
