If you haven’t been watching Mountain West basketball this season, then you missed one of the best games in college basketball that came down to a buzzer beater. Boise State Broncos junior guard Jeff Elorriaga hit a game-winning three as time expired to defeat the Wyoming Cowboys 63-61 and hand them their first loss of the season.

This was a great game throughout and you knew that this had the chance to be an upset as the clock kept on approaching to 0.0. Give credit to the Boise State Broncos, they played a tremendous game tonight and didn’t back down to the challenge of going up against a ranked opponent in the Wyoming Cowboys.

So should you be surprised that Boise State upset Wyoming? No, because the Broncos are now 13-2 and 1-0 in the Mountain West conference. But you should be surprised in the way that they won the game. Jeff Elorriaga put the Broncos on his back tonight. Big time players make big time plays and he did.

In a span of thirty seconds, Elorriaga hit two three-pointers to put Boise State up 60-59 and then with the game on the line he hit the biggest three of maybe his entire career. Who knows, this could lead Boise State having a great remainder of the season.

The Broncos also won this game without four of their players due to suspension. Talk about a depleted team getting a major conference win.

But you also cannot get down on Wyoming after this loss because they played their game. They shot the ball well, didn’t have a lot of turnovers, and got a solid game from senior guard Derrious Gilmore who had 17 points. I think both teams will learn something from this game, but no matter what, Boise State has knocked the Wyoming Cowboys from the ranks of the unbeaten.
