Ole Miss will be able to showcase to the country that they are the favorites in the SEC West by winning this game. Ole Miss has not been given credit all season for being a top SEC team, but after destroying Tennessee in their first round of SEC play, the 12-2 Rebels should be in the discussion for the top of the SEC. This team knows this and knows that a win against Missouri will not only take away their perpetual underdog status, but will catapult Ole Miss into the top 25.
Missouri will further cement themselves at the top of the SEC with a win against the Rebels. After they dismantled Alabama (the preseason favorite for the SEC West), they face the other contender for the SEC West. A win would show that no team in the western half of the SEC could contend with the Tigers. With a win Saturday night, Missouri has a chance to show that it and Florida are the only contenders for the SEC title.
Unfortunately for the Tigers, I believe that this game will go in Ole Miss’s favor. Murphy Holloway is too much of a powerhouse down low, and, now that Laurence Bowers is out for Missouri, there will be no one to stop him. Phil Pressey will once again put on a spectacular show to the tune of 20+ points and 8+ assists, but Bowers absence is too great for this Tigers team to make up. Ole Miss has every opportunity to win this game.
