North Carolina Would Be a Better Team With P.J. Hairston in the Starting Lineup

Kelvin Kuo-USA Today Sports

P.J. Hairston has been one of, if not the most productive player on North Carolina so far.  The only thing is, he comes off the bench and doesn’t get to be help his team get off to a fast start.

Hairston carried the team yesterday to win a over Florida State to help the Tar Heels avoid starting 0-3 in ACC play.  He has carried the Heels to a couple of other victories early on in the season as well.

Hairston averages 12.3 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 1.1 steals per game in just 20 minutes of action.  Get this kid some more playing time, how much more does he have to do for this team to earn more time on the court.

It’s not bad to have a productive player coming off the bench, especially one that brings energy like Hairston, but he still needs more playing time.

If he is inserted into the starting lineup he will get more playing time and would make his team much better.

Marcus Paige has not been playing very well at the point guard position for North Carolina.  He just doesn’t seem to be able to make plays for his teammates and turns the ball over way to much.

Carolina would become a lot better if they moved Dexter Strickland over to the point guard position to start.  He backs up Paige, but also starts as the shooting guard position.

When playing point, he has been a lot more productive than Paige.  Hairston could start as shooting guard and Strickland at point guard and Roy Williams has himself a heck of a lot better starting five.

If Hairston gets what he deserves, a spot in the starting rotation, North Carolina can have nice finish to their season.
