Who Will Bounce Back in College Basketball?

Rob Kinnan-USA TODAY Sports

This past weekend was the biggest weekend of the 2012-13 college basketball season yet. Both the No. 1 Duke Blue Devils and No. 2 Michigan Wolverines went down. Not to mention, a couple others in the top 10 fell as well. Well, which teams will rebound this weekend from their recent loss?

Michigan still has one of the best offenses in the country and I want to say that it will rebound this week, but the Wolverines will unfortunately have to play the Minnesota Gophers on the road. That will be one of the best matchups of the week and it is a game that literally any team could win.

The Big Ten Conference is brutal, especially this year, and the top teams in the conference will continue beating up on each other left and right. No one is safe in this conference this year. Three teams ranked in the top 10 and three more ranked teams in the top 25 will do that.

There are a couple of SEC teams that went down this past weekend and will most likely rebound. However, which teams will it be?

This time of the year, really anyone can win. That is what conference play is all about and there will definitely be some great games this week, but for the purposes of this article, we will focus on four teams that will rebound this week.

Playoffs? Who needs them when there is college basketball. Read on to find out the four teams that will rebound this week.

Kentucky Wildcats

Mark Zerof-USA TODAY Sports

The Kentucky Wildcats are not what they were last year, but throw the expectations out the window and you still have a great basketball team that is capable of beating anyone in the country.

It’s not like this team has lost every game people. The Wildcats are still 10-5 on the season. Not to mention, Kentucky has played two top 10 teams this year.

Tennessee will not be an easy opponent, but Kentucky does not lose two games in a row at home. Enough said.

Duke Blue Devils

The Duke Blue Devils had to lose eventually and they did against a very good North Carolina State team.

Georgia Tech is 0-3 in conference play and it better search elsewhere to get its first W in the ACC because it is not beating the Blue Devils at Cameron.

Expect a blowout win by Duke in its next game.

UNLV Rebels

Jaime Valdez-USA TODAY Sports

In perhaps the best game of the week, the UNLV Rebels and San Diego State Aztecs will go head-to-head in San Diego. Whoever wins this game will have serious bragging rights for the time being in the MWC.

However, UNLV is going to rebound from a recent loss to New Mexico. Yes, the Rebels did beat Air Force in the very next game, but a followup loss to San Diego would not be bouncing back in my book.

Mike Moser is back and Anthony Bennett is easily one of the best freshman in the country. It will not be easy, but UNLV will pull off the upset against the Aztecs this week.

Missouri Tigers

Spruce Derden-USA TODAY Sports

The Missouri Tigers need Laurence Bowers back and they need him back now. Bowers is the leading scorer on Missouri and without him, the team couldn’t even score 50 points against the Ole Miss Rebels.

I am not saying that Ole Miss is a bad team because it is going to surprise a lot of people this year. However, the Tigers put up 76.9 points per game.

Missouri will take on Georgia in its next game. The Bulldogs are 0-2 in the conference and 6-9 overall. Missouri is 12-3 on the season.
