Is North Carolina State on Upset Alert at Maryland on Wednesday?

Bob DeChiara-USA Today Sports

It has now been five days since North Carolina State sent its message across the college basketball landscape by upsetting No. 1 Duke on in Raleigh.

Now however, another ACC challenge looms on Wednesday night as a trip to College Park for a date with Maryland is set to begin.

The Terrapins, who currently sit at 1-2 in conference play on the season, having been sniffing at the potential of getting back into the conference discussion, but their sluggish start has doomed that conversation for the time being.

Any road game in college basketball is a challenge, let alone a trip to the Comcast Center. Maryland needs a statement win to add to their resume and what’s better than a North Carolina State team that is fresh off their biggest win of the year in their own right?

C.J. Leslie has been on fire recently for the Wolfpack, so he must be the top priority for the Terps and head coach Mark Turgeon. However, N.C. State features a number of weapons aside from Leslie, which makes this a difficult match-up on paper.

The Wolfpack instantly made their case for contention within the conference on Saturday, so a step back is certainly something that they will try and avoid on Wednesday. Not to mention, a sneaky and red-hot Miami (FL) squad is right behind them in the conference standings at 3-0.

Tip-off between Maryland and North Carolina State is set for 7:00pm (EST) on Wednesday night in a contest that should be a fun one to watch.
