Have we familiarized ourselves with the name Marshall Henderson yet?

No? Okay watch this video then:

That’s Henderson pulling up from just inside half court and burying the game-tying three pointer for Ole Miss on the road at Vanderbilt as the buzzer expired. Henderson’s late game magic forced overtime in a game which the Rebels eventually toughed out by a final score of 89-79. Limiting the Commodores to one point in the overtime frame, Henderson continues to provide the Rebels with even more than they may have bargained for.

A junior college transfer, Henderson has burst onto the season and is undoubtedly making his case for SEC Rookie of the Year, averaging a team-high 19.1 points per game thus far. More importantly, the Rebels are starting to churn up some attention, improving to 14-2 overall with Tuesday night’s thrilling victory.

The win over Vanderbilt marked the team’s sixth in a row and despite two questionable losses during the non-conference slate, the Rebels are seemingly on fire these days and the conference needs to begin to take notice. Henderson finished with 26 points on Tuesday night and now the Rebels return home for back-to-back games that could push them to a 5-0 mark within the league if they can protect their home court.

Head coach Andy Kennedy had been feeling some pressure heading into the 2012-13 season, but if he can keep his squad playing at this clip, that worry may simply turn into added hype once March rolls along.
