Kansas State Wildcats Stay Hot Under Bruce Weber

The Kansas State Wildcats may be one of the sneakiest teams in college basketball come tournament time. Wednesday night Rodney McGruder and the Wildcats went into Fort Worth, Texas and defeated the TCU Horned Frogs to capture the clubs seventh straight victory.

In my mind, the sky is the limit for this team as the more they become accustomed to Bruce Weber’s brand of basketball, the better they will become. After the game, McGruder touched on the offensive transition saying, “It is fun, a lot of movement.” McGruder has excelled while playing underneath Weber in his first year at Kansas State. McGruder did his job versus the Big-12 rival Horned Frogs as he put up 21 points, five rebounds and three assists, however, help also came from others as senior Jordan Henriquez hauled in ten rebounds.

The Wildcats’ resume has been stellar as of late, with two wins against ranked opponents during this seven game winning streak. Perhaps the most encouraging stat is that the team has won five consecutive road games dating back to last season. Playing well on the road becomes crucial come tournament time. Look for Weber and the club to make a big run in March if they continue to win tough games away from home.

A couple daunting tasks are staring right at the Wildcats now as they have home games versus the Oklahoma Sooners and the Kansas Jayhawks. If they can come out in both of these games victorious, the Wildcats can expect a spot amongst college basketball’s top five teams in the country.
