UNLV Pulls Off a Big Road Win Over SDSU Aztecs

Jake Roth-USA TODAY Sports

In a day where two more top 15 teams went down, the UNLV Rebels pulled off one of those upsets against the No. 15 San Diego State Aztecs by the score of 82-75. May I remind you that neither Mike Moser or Anthony Bennett led the charge for UNLV.

Sure, both players combined for 18 points in the game, but that is nothing compared to what they are averaging this season combined. Heck, Bennett is averaging more than 18 points per game himself.

It was Anthony Marshall who came up big for the Rebels, with 20 points in the game.

UNLV needed a big win to get back into the MWC title talk. The Rebels entered the season as the best team in the conference, but they lost just the third game of the season and two more after a long winning streak.

Alright. Just in case if you were wondering, the other upset tonight was unranked Maryland over No. 14 North Carolina State. What a disappointing loss for the Wolfpack, after getting a huge victory over the No. 1 Duke Blue Devils (at the time) this weekend.

Okay, back to UNLV.

With a loss in this game, the Rebels would have been 1-2 to start conference play, but they opened things right up, handing the Aztecs their first loss of the season…in conference play.

UNLV lost to New Mexico, and the Lobos are currently at the top of the conference, with a 3-0 record. Next up, UNLV will have to go on the road once again, but this time against the Colorado State Rams. The Rams are having a great year and will be a very tough test against the Rebels. Whichever team wins that game will likely be the team to beat in the conference, at least temporarily.

However, UNLV will celebrate its big win tonight over San Diego State.
