Florida Gators Chop Out Texas A&M
Last night in Reed Arena, the Florida Gators took on the Aggies of Texas A&M. From the opening tip-off, Florida was in control of this road game. It always feels great to win at home, but it feels even greater to win on the road, especially by more than 20. The Gators came to play and were very impressing in their victory tonight. This is their 5th straight victory since losing to Kansas State on December 22. Mike Rosario was on fire from the perimeter, unstoppable in the first half and was a great team leader down the stretch. His teammates Patrick Young and Erik Murphy controlled the second half with ease.
The Aggies couldn’t establish themselves on offense or defense the rest of the game. They were throwing up lame ducks and were shooting horribly from the floor in the first half alone. Their only real help came from Alex Caruso shooting the rock and Ray Turner on the boards. Their struggle getting the rock to fall was a bit surprising to imagine after they beat Kentucky at Rupp Arena. They were held in check by the Gator’s defense the entire game and ended up just throwing the ball up.
This game wasn’t a pretty game to watch unless you were a Florida fan. It was all about the Gators last night in this impressive victory. They are a great defensive minded team who has a chance to win it all this season. Even battling through the injury bug, Florida came out victorious on the road in College Station. The Aggies really needed this win top make an imapct on their first year in the SEC. It is very hard to win on the road but more importatly you need to win at home. It’s your turf, your home crowd and at College Station the home of the 12th man. They need to be more consistent with thier shoots, more confidence in one another and they need to learn how to play man to man defense better. They let the Gators shoot too many open shots on the permiter and they needed to be more agressive on the boards.
Anytime you are playing at home with the support of your crowd behind should motivate you to win. At halftime the Aggies Football team and Johnny Manziel were introduced but even the Heisman trophy winner couldn’t hep out the Aggies last night. They needed this win to be 3-0 in conference to make a push to win the SEC this year. Look for them to come out fired up when they travel to Alabama next. The Gators will get to play Missouri at home next and have a chance of being undefeated in the conference.
