Louisville Turns Attention to Villanova Following Weekend Loss to Syracuse
In college basketball, upsets happen. More than usual though, it’s a loss on the road rather than at home.
The loss marked the Cardinals’ second defeat of the season, but just their first within Big East Conference play. There’s no time to fret, however, as head coach Rick Pitino will look to get Louisville back on track against Villanova on Tuesday. The Cardinals are certainly favored in the contest despite the game being played on the road, as the Wildcats continue their struggles, entering the game having lost three in a row.
For Villanova, a brutal three-game stretch against three ranked opponents could not have come at a worse time, given their current losing streak. If the Wildcats are not able to pull off an upset in the coming week or so, things could be headed south rather quickly. Surely, the Wildcats may have been rooting for Louisville over the weekend, simply because the last thing that they needed was a Cardinals squad fresh off a loss coming to visit them next.
Louisville, who lost only twice all season, will be hungry and looking to avoid back-to-back losses. That may not exactly spell a recipe for an upset if you’re a Wildcats fan. However, crazier things have happened, so give Villanova the benefit of the doubt as the home team, as they could at least have a shot at pulling off an upset.
The story however, will be all about Louisville, as a trip to Georgetown will follow suit for the Cardinals on Saturday after Tuesday’s trip to Philadelphia.
