Miami Hurricanes Are For Real

Robert Mayer-USA TODAY Sports

The Miami Hurricanes came into Wednesday night’s game against the top-ranked Duke Blue Devils undefeated in the Atlantic Coast Conference. The Hurricanes showed that they are a team that will have to be dealt with all season with a smashing of the Blue Devils. Miami was unranked coming into the game, which is surprising since they were undefeated in the conference, and are becoming a team that no one wants to see in the NCAA Tournament.

Miami is now 14-3 overall and would anyone be surprised at this point if the Hurricanes ended up winning the ACC? After seeing that performance, that wouldn’t shock me at all if Miami did win the conference. Every game that Duke plays is their opponent’s national championship game, and Miami showed they that weren’t at all nervous in hammering Duke and forcing them into one of the worst shooting nights you will ever see out of a top-ranked team. If Miami can keep this up and now with their whole team healthy, they will be a tough out and potential Sweet 16 team.

I will be watching to see if Miami has a bit of a letdown after this game, and ends up losing in one of their next two games. If the Hurricanes can keep their intensity up through the next few games, I don’t see many losses in the future. This is a very talented college basketball team that some people may have not given much credit to before the season starts. I bet those thoughts are now far from anyone’s minds.
