The UCLA Bruins entered the 2012-13 college basketball season with some serious expectations. Even though the Bruins have had an up and down year, the expectations for this team have not died in anyway. However, is UCLA the best team in the Pac-12 after its victory over the Arizona Wildcats on the road?
Well, if you watched the game you would almost have to say yes. Phenom freshman Shabazz Muhammad and company pretty much dominated Arizona the entire way. Arizona, of course, had a couple of runs in the game, but UCLA did not let up and ended up winning by 11 points in a very hostile environment.
Muhammad did his thing, scoring 23 points in the game.
Many people could argue that the Oregon Ducks are the best team in the conference, and those people would make a pretty valid argument, considering that Oregon has beaten both Arizona and UCLA this year. Not to mention, the Ducks are a perfect 6-0 in conference play.
However, talent wise, the Bruins are not only the best team in the conference, but one of the best teams in the entire nation as well.
UCLA’s win last night turned a page for the Bruins. They got a huge victory and dominated the highest ranked team in the Pac-12 on the road. Sure, the Bruins got beat the game before at home by Oregon, but if these two teams met up again, my money would be on UCLA.
The Bruins may have four losses on the year, but other than the loss to Cal Poly, they have lost to three very good opponents, including two ranked teams at the time. This team also beat a very good No. 7 Missouri Tigers team (at the time), who was playing their best basketball until going down in overtime.
Say what you want about UCLA, but come tournament time, no team is going to want to play the Bruins.
