A big conference show down between Indiana State Sycamores and the Northern Iowa Panthers had a lot of conference tournament implications.  Both teams are battling for a top-three spot in the Missouri Valley and a win here for either school will go a long ways in determining that spot.  The Sycamores come into action with a 5-3 conference record and are at 12-7 overall.

The Panthers are coming off of two impressive victories and have a conference record of 4-4 and are sitting at 11-9 overall.  The last time these two teams met, the Sycamores came out on top with the final score being 65-61.  Some key contributors from the last match up between these two teams were the two big guys.  Seth Tuttle for the Panthers scored 24 points and hauled in 10 rebounds.  The Sycamores were led by Justin Gant with 18 points and 6 rebounds.

Some keys to the game for the Panthers.  Once again they need to get some early touches from Tuttle down in the low post.  This gives their three point shooters more open looks and with the way they have been shooting these past couple games that could be huge.  They also need to be able to stop point guard Jake Odum.  Last game they did a pretty decent job stopping him but stopping him is their number one goal.

Some keys for the Sycamores are obviously to slow the Panthers down from the three point line.  They will try forcing them into some tough shots with their defense and that’s something the Panthers don’t do well with.  They will look for Odum to get into the lane and kick it out to shooters on the edge.  With the Panthers being inconsistent this year who knows which team will show up in this game, but I look forward to it being a good game.
