Re: The State of the Men’s Basketball Program
I am a DePaul Blue Demons fan. Been one my whole life, I remember watching DePaul on Saturdays with my father on WGN television as the program was one of the nation’s strongest programs. Today, DePaul is lucky to get a couple of lines in the paper. It usually points to a loss and most likely, a huge loss. DePaul’s run in the Big East makes the Washington Generals look dominant. All of this while you extend the contract of Athletic Director Jean Lenti-Ponsetto. Are you blind or do you want the one revenue sport at the school to not make revenue?
While Oliver Purnell has been a mildly successful coach in the past, he’s done nothing to grow and develop the program. Watching this team struggle night-in and night-out just makes me wonder if he was in this for a lofty payday and doesn’t really care about actually building the program.
The team plays in an outdated arena in front of minuscule crowds. Recruits don’t even notice the school, and the ones that actually sign to play here leave before they even start. Thanks Shane Larkin.
If you’re not going to take this seriously, why should I? It is just too darn painful and will not ever get any better. Meanwhile, Lenti-Ponsetto sits on press row in her horrifically blue suit and smirks like she’s the queen bee. Thanks for killing something that I love.
